CPA Western School of Business (CPAWSB) believes in continuous improvement, and has applied that belief to transcript assessments. On October 16, 2017, the School introduced changes designed to improve the transcript assessment experience by simplifying how applicants request an assessment, providing clear and concise information about the process, and ultimately, reducing the length of time between submitting a transcript assessment request and receiving a completed assessment.
With a few, limited exceptions (listed below), applicants to CPAWSB must have their transcripts assessed before submitting an admission application to the School. A transcript assessment determines eligibility to enroll in CPA PEP and indicates what, if any, education requirements are outstanding that can be fulfilled through CPA preparatory courses or a post-secondary institution.
If you are a candidate—including if you are a co-op or summer student—currently enrolled in CPA PEP or a student enrolled in CPA preparatory courses, you are not affected by this new process. New co-op and summer students can enroll in CPA PEP by submitting an admission application to begin recording experience without submitting a transcript assessment until they are ready to register for Core 1.
Anyone applying to the School can start the transcript assessment process by logging into My CPA portal and selecting Program Admission > Transcript Assessment. Additional instructions are available on the CPAWSB website.
After the assessment is complete, you will receive an email prompting you to log into My CPA portal to review the results, which are valid for one year. Any outstanding requirements for entry into CPA PEP will be listed on the assessment. Outstanding prerequisite education can be completed through CPA preparatory courses or post-secondary institutions. As you complete the outstanding requirements (referred to as gaps), submit a gap verification request to update your assessment results.

A transcript assessment is not required in the following circumstances:
- If you are an internationally-trained accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India or Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan, submit a CPA PEP admission application directly.
- If you are enrolled in a CPA-accredited Master’s program, submit a CPA PEP admission application directly.
- If you are enrolled in an approved co-op program and seeking only to report practical experience, submit a CPA PEP admission application directly. A transcript assessment will be required when you are ready to participate in CPA PEP Core 1.
When to Submit a Transcript Assessment Request
Transcript assessment requests can be submitted at any time and a completed assessment is valid for one year. Most people request a transcript assessment two months before registration opens for the CPA preparatory course semester or CPA PEP session they want to start. Anyone planning to enroll in the next offering of CPA PEP Core 1 who has completed or soon will complete the prerequisites for CPA PEP can submit a CPA PEP admission application and module registration while their transcript is being assessed.
