Scholarships and Bursaries

CPA education foundations in Western Canada provide learners with the opportunity to apply for scholarships and bursaries to help offset the costs of their accounting studies.

Awards, application requirements and deadlines vary in each province and some awards are reserved for learners demonstrating financial need. We have summarized the awards below and linked to additional information on the provincial CPA body websites.

British Columbia

BC has awards for:

  • Students attending BC post secondary institutions, with scholarship awards ranging from $500 to $2,500 available at over 20 institutions
    Application deadline: May 1, 2018
  • Students enrolled in the ACAF, CPA preparatory courses or CPA PEP with up to 20 bursary awards ranging from $2,000 to $3,000 granted based on financial need
    Application deadlines: May 15 and November 15, 2018

Alberta

Alberta has awards for:

  • Students attending high school in Alberta, with four awards ranging from $ 1,500 to $2,500
    Application deadline: February 28, 2018
  • Indigenous students currently attending high school or post-secondary institution in Alberta, with five awards ranging from $1,500 to $3,750
    Application deadline: February 28, 2018
  • Students attending post-secondary institutions in Alberta or Saskatchewan, with six awards ranging from $1,250 to $3,000
    Application deadline: February 28, 2018
  • Candidates enrolled in CPA PEP, with five awards ranging from $1,000 to $3,500, including one for a new Canadian or a permanent resident.
    Application deadline: vary based on award

Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan has awards for:

  • Students living in Saskatchewan enrolled in certain CPA preparatory courses, and who achieve a final mark of 80 percent or higher, with up to eight awards worth $650 each
    Application deadline: December 31, 2018
  • Candidates living in Saskatchewan enrolled in CPA PEP Core modules, and who completed Core module with distinction, with two awards worth $1,000 each
    Application deadline: December 31, 2018
  • Students and candidates living in Saskatchewan, with four bursaries worth $1,000 each
    Application deadline: December 31, 2018

Manitoba has awards for:

  • Students attending high school in Manitoba, with 13 awards, worth $1,000
    Application deadline: April 9, 2018
  • Candidates enrolled in the CPA PEP program, and CPA preparatory course students seeking admission to CPA PEP, with bursaries worth varying amounts
