Exam Appeals

In the case of an unsuccessful exam result, you may submit an appeal. Below we outline the appeal process for CPA preparatory course and CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP) module exams.

CPA preparatory course Exam Appeals

What can you appeal?

Appeals of examination results are permitted for students who fail a Core course only:

  • Intermediate Financial Reporting I
  • Intermediate Financial Reporting II
  • Advanced Financial Reporting
  • Corporate Finance
  • Audit and Assurance
  • Taxation
  • Intermediate Management Accounting
  • Performance Management

For confidentiality reasons, you may only apply for review of your own examination results. Non-core course examination results may not be appealed.

How to appeal

If you would like to appeal your result, submit an appeal request through My CPA portal. Get started by selecting Exam Registration then clicking “view” next to your unsuccessful result. The fee for an appeal is $100 and is due when you make the request. If your appeal is successful and results in a passing grade, the fee will be refunded.

You must apply for an appeal within three business days from results release. The appeal period is set nationally by CPA Canada and the School cannot accept any appeals after the deadline has passed.

Additional information

When an exam is reviewed, the constructed response questions are remarked to ensure that no marks have been missed and that marking guidelines were not misapplied.

Appeals results typically take ten business days to process and results will be released as they become available. Also, as CPA preparatory course exams are non-disclosed, your original exam and responses will not be returned as part of the appeal.

CPA Professional Education Program Exam Appeals

What can you appeal?

All CPA PEP exams results can be appealed but you can only apply for review of your own examination results for confidentiality reasons.

How to appeal

If you would like to appeal your result, submit an appeal request through My CPA portal. Start the process by selecting Exam Registration then clicking “view” next to your unsuccessful result.

After results are released to candidates at 9:00 a.m. Pacific on results day, you have five days to submit an appeal request. The appeal period is set nationally by CPA Canada and the School cannot accept any appeals after the deadline has passed. Please note that appeals carry a fee of $205, which will be refunded if your appeal is successful and results in a passing grade.

Additional information

CPA PEP exam appeals can take up to two weeks to be completed.  Also, because all CPA PEP exams are non-disclosed, your original exam or responses will not be returned as part of the appeal.

Extenuating circumstances are not considered through CPA Canada’s appeal process and no additional feedback is provided with your appeal results.
