CPA PEP Resources

Candidates studying at the CPA Western School of Business have access to many resources to support completing assignments and preparing for exams. Below we outline those CPA PEP resources and where to find them. This is the final post in our online learning series. Previous posts in this series include information on beginning online learning and connecting with other students and candidates during modules or courses.

D2L Resources

Most of these resources are only available from within the D2L learning platform. Candidates gain access to the platform after registering for their first course or module and continue to have access for the duration of their CPA studies.

Module Survival Guide:

What is it: This guide gives candidates an overview of what to expect and a list of required readings from each module.

Where to find it: The link can be found on the module homepage. In some instances, there will also be reference to applicable undergraduate textbooks to use as supplementary resource material.

When to use it: Review each module survival guide as soon as you receive access to the module content in D2L.

Competency Map and Knowledge Supplement:

What is it: These two documents explain the examinable topics.

Where to find it: a link can be found on the module homepage and the CPA Canada website.

When to use it: During the module when gearing up to study for exams.

Module exam blueprints:

What is it: This blueprint provides information about the exam weighting and format.

Where to find it: A link to the module blueprint for each module can be found on the module homepage in D2L. This can also be found in the core, elective, and capstone module sections of the CPA Canada website.

When to use it: When studying for the exams.

Practice exams:

What is it: Practice exams are sample questions to help prepare for exams.

Where to find it: These can be found on the module homepage in D2L.

When to use it: When studying for exams.

Oracle:

What is it: The Oracle is an extensive resource library with additional reading and research material.

Where to find it: The link can be found on the module homepage in D2L.

When to use it: Review Oracle resources any time during modules and as needed to complete assignments or review before exams.

CPA Canada/ CPAWSB website

Candidate Guide:

What is it: CPA Canada publishes candidate guides that contain information relevant to different stages of CPA PEP. The Core and Elective guide contains an overview of CPA PEP, and module and program expectations. The capstone guides provide information for candidates in each capstone module and details about finishing CPA PEP.

Where to find it: The candidate guides are available on the CPA Canada website.

When to use it: Review these guides to help understand what to expect for your next module.

Capstone 2/CFE resources:

What is it: Old exams to practice case writing skills

Where to find it: Access these resources from

When to use it: Use these resources when preparing for the CFE. You will learn about how to use them in Capstone 2.

CFE resources:

What is it: Sample CFE questions and the CFE blueprint.

Where to find it: Find these on the CPA Canada website.

When to use it: Use these resources when preparing for the CFE. You will learn about how to use them in Capstone 2.

Additional Resources

Some provinces also offer additional resources that you may find useful (financial assistance, assistance/wellness services, job board etc.). Each province provides a different level of support; check out your provincial website: BC, AB, SK, MB or check out our post about it.
